Day 4 (Kelseyville to San Rafael)

Day 4

June 8th

So it turns out, Riley, Alex, and Micah slept out in the van last night, because Riley woke up to a spider next to his head and freaked out. The guys are all kind of light-weights when it comes to insects in the house I guess. We left Kelseyville around 8:15, and headed to San Francisco for our second baseball game of the trip. We arrived in San Fran about an hour before the 12:45 game time, parked, and found our $4 seats, in section 327 (about as high up as you can get), and settled in for a tight ball game between the Giants and the Washington Nationals. We originally intended to move up closer to the action, but found that we were content watching the game from the third deck. Giants starter, Matt Cain, who also happens to be on my fantasy baseball team, fired a complete game pitching performance, racking up 11 strikeouts on the day. He also helped himself out with an RBI double in the fifth inning, as he picked up the win. After the game, we drove to the Emrich’s house in Marin County, in San Rafael. It was quite a sight crossing the Golden Gate Bridge and we lucked out with excellent weather in the bay area. After arriving at the Emrich’s, we visited with my cousin Michael, my uncle Peter, my Aunt (Mom’s sister), Lindy, and their little dog, Ollie. They prepared a wonderful dinner, complete with turkey, mashed potatoes, a beautiful salad,  overcooked broccoli (just like I like it), and garlic bread. We ate outside in their back yard and enjoyed amusing dinner conversation with the whole family. After dinner, the eight of us continued to talk in the kitchen, shared stories, and a lot of laughs. Later that night, we invited Michael to join us for a movie. We went to The Hangover part II, and while it’s virtually the same format as the last one, it was still funny, and it was fun to spend some good bonding time with the cuz. After the movie, we came back to the house where some of us went straight to sleep. Tomorrow, we plan to explore the local attractions in downtown San Francisco, including Golden Gate Park, Haight Street, China Town (upon Micah’s request), North Beach, Pier 39, and Ghirardelli square, and then continue on to San Luis Obispo to stay with Alex’s grandparents.
