Day 15 (Bryce Canyon to Moab)

Day 15 (Bryce Canyon to Moab)

June 19th

Left the Bryce Canyon campsite around 8:30 and went out to find the Buckskin Gulch in the Escalante area. After driving around for an hour or so, we came to a 46-mile dirt road leading to the gulch. This coupled with the threat of rain, prompted us to bag the idea of seeing the gulch and go grab some breakfast in Bryce Canyon city. After breakfast, we set out in our way to Moab, where Arches National Park is. I got some good sleep in during this drive and so am unable to recount much of the drive, though I do remember stopping in a small town to get gas. And as you can imagine with any small town in Utah on a Sunday, just about everything was shut down. We arrived at our Kampgrounds of America campsite around 3:30, and set up camp. The campground was really nice. It had a swimming pool,  game room, miniature golf, wifi, and free showers. After getting settled, we played in the pool for a while before going out to dinner at a nearby steakhouse in Moab. After dinner, we looked for a bike rental shop for tomorrow, when we  plan to visit Arches. Finding nothing reasonably priced, we headed back to the camp for a little downtime. Faced with the question of what to do on a Sunday evening in Moab, Utah, we decided to go to the movie, The Green Lantern, on Alex’s request, at the only movie theater in Moab. The movie was about as bad as I predicted it to be, but was about as good a way of spending our time as I can think of. We returned to the campsite to call it a night and get some rest. Tomorrow, we plan to get up fairly early to go hike in the Arches National park, just a few miles from the campground, and then leave for Honeyville,  some time in the afternoon, to stay with some friends.
